Tom Killion: The Floating World of California Landscape
Tom will present a slide lecture on his landscape printmaking at the Kingsley Art Club's Lecture Series held at the new Crocker Art Museum Auditorium located at 216 "O" Street in Sacramento. The lecture will begin at 1:15 PM, with refreshments and an informal reception after. Admission is free for Club members, but non-members may purchase tickets through the Club's website. Japanese-Style Woodblock Printmaking Workshop
Tom will be teaching a one-day workshop on his adaptation of Japanese traditional woodblock printmaking techniques, including planning the image, carving the block, tool care and sharpening, paper selection, inking and printing; as well as a discussion of his own adaptations for multi-block reduction cuts and multi-color registration techniques on a handpress. Students will be able to carve and hand-print a small single-color block during the class. Class will be held Saturday from 10-5 at the Pacific Art League on Ramona in downtown Palo Alto. Japanese-style Woodcut Printmaking & The Western Landscape
Killion will be teaching a week-long workshop on Japanese-style woodcut printmaking at the prestigious and beautiful Anderson Ranch Arts Center near Aspen, Colorado this June. If you have been looking to take a full-scale printmaking workshop with Tom, this is your chance. We will make several multi-block landscape prints.
